2DEAD BOYZ: Inside Meechy Darko and Zombie Juice’s Independent Side Hustle And Upcoming Tour

Two-thirds of Flatbush Zombies just launched something that promises to be much bigger than a mere side project. With a new single, an upcoming album, and a freshly announced tour alongside fellow Beast Coast veterans The Underachievers, Meechy Darko and Zombie Juice’s duo act 2DEAD BOYZ is quickly shaping up to be an independent lane all its own.

From Nickname to Name

2DEAD BOYZ isn’t a spinoff dreamed up by a label’s marketing team. For starters, the pair had already been referring to the union by that name. As Meechy explained it, “2DeadBoyz is something me and Juice always called each other.” (Source: Just 2DeadBoyz — SPIN (Kyle Eustice)) The name is something of a nod to Outkast’s 1996 single “2 Dope Boyz (in a Cadillac),” a connection Meechy has openly acknowledged, even as he admits that sample clearance made an actual interpolation too complicated to pursue.

Unlike Flatbush Zombies, which includes producer Erick Arc Elliott, 2DEAD BOYZ consists solely of Meechy and Juice — it’s essentially a stripped-down, two-man version of the chemistry they’ve built over more than a decade together. The music leans into darker, more psychedelic territory: themes of death, rebirth, and altered consciousness run through the project, extending threads Meechy has explored since his 2023 solo album Doses.

A New Single, and a Real Pattern

Produced by JUNIE, the duo’s latest single, “Felony Ring,” follows earlier releases “Tunnel Vision,” “Chef Kisses,” and “Blood on My Knife.” Taken together, these songs read less like scattered loosies and more like a deliberate rollout — a steady drip of material ahead of their debut full-length, NO1LIVES4EVER, which the pair have said they’re aiming to release in early 2026. Each new single has sharpened the same core tension: gritty street realism set against a more introspective and spiritual backdrop.

The Tour Just Got Real

Here’s the freshest part: 2DEAD BOYZ recently confirmed the “NO1LIVESFOREVER” tour, teaming up with The Underachievers — their Beast Coast brethren from the same Brooklyn scene that also birthed Flatbush Zombies and Pro Era. Tickets are already on sale. Make no mistake: pairing with The Underachievers isn’t a random booking. Both acts share nearly identical roots in Brooklyn’s early-2010s underground rap explosion, giving the run genuine reunion energy for longtime fans of that era.

Still Independent, Still Themselves

When asked, Meechy and Juice emphasize that 2DEAD BOYZ isn’t meant to replace Flatbush Zombies. Meechy, for one, left the door open, noting the group hasn’t ruled out another Flatbush Zombies album down the line. But for now, this duo project gives both rappers a separate creative outlet built on the same independent foundation the trio has run on for over a decade. Existing within their own Glorious Dead Recordings ecosystem, there’s no major label steering the rollout, no outside timeline dictating when new music or tour dates drop.

For fans who’ve followed Flatbush Zombies since BetterOffDEAD, 2DEAD BOYZ offers something familiar and new at once: the same voices, a tighter lineup, and a tour that puts two of Brooklyn’s most enduring underground acts back on the same stage.
