Avery Marcel Joshua Jones (born October 16, 1992), known by his stage name KOTA The Friend is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He got his stage name from the Disney movie Brother Bear and is actually a Native American word “Koda” meaning friend.

Kota most recently released his No Rap on Sunday album, which include singles featuring Big Sean and Fivio Foreign. Besides his No Rap on Sunday release, Kota has released a number of albums and EPs. In 2024 he released Once in a Blue Moon, an album collaboration with Statik Selektah, and in the same year he released Lyrics to Go 5, the 5h installment of his popular Lyrics to Go series.

Kota is a trained musician as well. He started playing the trumpet in the 4th grade, in a Brooklyn public school. He was able to get accepted into music programs in middle school, high school, and college, as a trumpet player. After Kota left college he started his music career, as a writer and performer.

Kota the Friend released his debut mixtape, Palm Tree Liquor in 2016, followed by his second mixtape Paloma Beach in 2017.

In 2018, he released his third mixtape, the lengthier Anything, with 2019 marking the release of his first independent studio album, FOTO, followed by the Lyrics to GO, Vol. 1 compilation in January 2020 and then his second studio album, EVERYTHING, in late May of the same year. Kota then went on to release Lyrics to GO, Vol.2 in January 2021 and the collaborative project To Kill A Sunrise with Statik Selektah later in March. Lyrics to GO, Vol.3 was surprise-released in January 2022, with Kota’s third studio album, MEMO, following in July of that year. Kota the Friend has spent the last couple years of his life traveling the world.

Kota has remained 100% independent throughout his career—turning down 3 major record labels; instead, creating his own label and apparel brand, FLTBYS (Flight Boys). He frequently cites a do-it-yourself mentality, such as filming his own music videos, recording within a home setup, and producing most of his discography. His mentality was fueled by a desire for freedom and to avoid the sense of musical confinement.

Kota’s music has been featured in movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming platforms.

Kota the Friend cited Jay-Z, Nas, Kid Cudi, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Pharrell as some of his influences in music.

Landon Wordswell is an Orlando based, St Louis area raised touring artist that has taken his talents just about everywhere. Wordswell has been fortunate enough to sharpen his blade amongst some of the best emcees alive doing shows and touring both nationally and/or internationally alongside greats such as Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Bun B, The Game, Raekwon (Wu Tang), Elzhi, Skyzoo, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), and so many more.

Landon’s live show effortlessly engages the audience with unique personal touches that are added organically via a heavy dose of introspective lyricism and the stories that come with it. At the base of each elaborate rhyme scheme he chooses is a militant, precise delivery. Landon also happens to be one of the newest signees to Skyzoo’s label, First Generation Rich, which will be putting out Wordswell’s most personal album yet, “Remember To Breathe” due to drop this fall.

Landon’s stage performance & delivery have been praised on tours both nationally & internationally for it’s captivating crowd appeal. Wordswell specializes in utilizing intricate rhyme schemes often being coupled with tightly knitted personal lyrics and a bold truth. 
 The Indianapolis, IN born emcee was immediately moved to Brooklyn, IL (St Louis Area) where his single mother taught him honor, resilience, and hustle on a day to day basis by simply living as an example of it. Seeing these qualities pay off led to his family relocating to a much safer, well established area in his late childhood. Constant growth can be heard from his first solo effort, “The Mourning After Pill”, to his forthcoming, “New Flexico”. 
 Along with touring the United States with his past tour partner, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), he has also completed a full European tour with the Artifacts and and national tour with the very legendary Talib Kweli in 2018. For nearly a decade as a duo, and longer still as solo artists, Armand Hammer have left a palpable mark on modern rap and hip-hop. At turns both sharp-witted and soul-crushing, their lyrics unspool threads of socio-political, historical, and philosophical import with a potent blend of incisive critique, gallows humor, and narrative élan. 

Mercy is the first Armand Hammer album since 2023’s We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, a project that The Observer (UK) described as “an exceptional record that deserves your time and headphones” and The Line Of Best Fit deemed “their headiest and most impressive work thus far.” On 2021’s Haram, their first with The Alchemist, the duo “drag postcolonial wounds onto the examination table” (Pitchfork). This run follows his very successful co-headline tour alongside Danny Brown for their collaborative album “SCARING THE HOES!” which included sold-out shows nationwide including landmark venues like The Hollywood Palladium. The album debuted at number 84 on the Billboard 200 and entered at position 39 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, while also charting in six other countries including Canada and the UK.
