Today’s Hip Hop is dedicated to independent artists, collectives and the culture they create. We cover artists at different stages of their careers, from emerging talent developing their first real audience to established independent artists building sustainable careers on their own terms.
If you’re an independent hip-hop artist with music and a story people should know about, introduce yourself. If you’re a manager, publicist, producer, DJ, promoter or fan who knows an artist deserving greater visibility, introduce them to Today’s Hip Hop.
Who We’re Interested In
We want to hear about independent hip-hop artists from New York, across the United States and around the world. Great music matters, but we’re also interested in the people, stories, ideas and communities surrounding the music.
Artists don’t need millions of streams, a massive social following or a viral record to get our attention. We want to know about compelling artists making great music, developing audiences, building collectives, performing live, creating independent businesses and finding their own ways to move hip-hop culture forward.
We also want to hear about established independent artists who have already built meaningful careers outside the traditional major-label system. Independent hip hop isn’t defined by how famous an artist is; it’s about the culture, creativity and freedom surrounding how the work gets made and reaches an audience.
Artists, Managers and Fans Can Make an Introduction
Artists are welcome to introduce themselves directly to Today’s Hip Hop. Managers, publicists and other members of an artist’s team can also submit information for editorial consideration.
Fans are welcome to make introductions too. If there’s an independent artist you’ve been listening to who deserves a larger audience, tell us who they are and why you think people should know their music.
What to Send
Tell us who the artist is and why we should be paying attention. Include the artist’s name, hometown or current city, a brief introduction, links to their music and social media, and anything happening now that we should know about, such as a new song or project, upcoming performance, tour, collaboration or other significant development.
You can also include links to music videos, photos, previous media coverage, interviews or an electronic press kit if available. Please send links whenever possible rather than large attachments.

Submissions may be considered for artist profiles, interviews, music coverage, event coverage and other editorial opportunities across Today’s Hip Hop. Submission does not guarantee coverage, and all editorial decisions are made by Today’s Hip Hop based on the music, story and relevance to our focus on independent artists and culture.
