New Music Friday: 7 Independent Hip-Hop Released to Stream

Major-label releases are noticeably thin this fall, but we at Today’s Hip Hop only care about independent releases — and there’s no shortage of them this week! From albums to mixtapes and singles, here are seven new independent hip-hop releases worth your streaming time.

1. Ovrkast. – STRIKING

East Oakland rapper-producer Ovrkast. leads the charge with STRIKING, a follow-up to his 2025 project While The Iron Is Hot, released via Brooklyn label three times LOUDER. The album features Joey Bada$$ on “STATIC” and MAVI and Samara Cyn on “KNOCK.” Clash describes a jazz-influenced, sample-heavy sound that draws inspiration from Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and Jay-Z’s 4:44. STRIKING arrives amid Ovrkast.’s legal dispute with OutKast over his stage name.

2. yit & zemult – REAL MEN WEAR PINK

An eight-track, 18-minute mixtape blending digicore, pop rap, and rage, REAL MEN WEAR PINK seems custom-designed for quick replays and short-form clips. Based on early user ratings, “TELL MY STYLIST,” “DIGIBOY,” and “RESIDENT EVIL” are the standouts, while one early listener singles out “EMILY BLUNT”.

3. Percatric – Immortal

Percatric keeps it tight with five rage tracks in about ten minutes, produced by Chloe Queen. Early ratings favor “Peace Of Mind” and “2.6.” Reactions to Immortal seem to be split, which only serves to fuel debate and encourage repeat listens. It’s an easy first stop if you’re short on time.

4. Bedry – Beewaba

Fans of French hip-hop shouldn’t sleep on Beewaba, an 11-track project that blends French rap, trap, and cloud rap. At least one early listener is praising “3 Feuilles,” which features Sherifflazone. Curious song titles like “Batman” and “Umpa Lumpa” make it a fun deep dive for adventurous ears.

5. Devstacks – Soul

A Boston-based producer-rapper, Devstacks delivers his third studio LP, Soul. Self-produced and performed entirely without guests, it earned a favorable review that scored it 4 out of 5. That review describes a blend of regalia, plugg, and cloud rap, and it cites “Hand Me Your Soul” as a track fusing “chipmunk soul & jerk.”

6. Kura – “No Parts”

Detroit rapper-producer Kura follows the 2026 releases RIOTRIOTRIOT and B4RRR with a new single called “No Parts.” An independent rapper who was once signed to Pi’erre Bourne’s SossHouse label, Kura is known for “elastic flows and swift melodies,” with a punk-leaning edge that suits a late-night playlist.

7. KaMillion – “Wus Up”

The Jacksonville rapper and Rap Sh!t star returns with a track produced by Shawntbeatz that delivers “sharp bars, playful taunts and bold statements about her confidence.” Coming off her 2026 breakout “In Here,” “Wus Up” previews her upcoming EP.

The Takeaway
