Iso Indies is the dopest duo in the underground

Brooklyn’s very own underground kings

With all the madness in the city right now during COVID-19, the one thing that’s kept us level headed is good, quality music. When the video for Iso Indies latest track “Safehouse” dropped, it didn’t take long to classify it as exactly that. In the video, the duo exchanges bars against the iconic backdrop of NYC, declaring themselves the new Meth and Redman. From a chemistry standpoint, they’re not far off. Iso Indies is one of the most underrated duos in the city currently and similar to the name of their latest album, they’ve staked their claim as underground kings.

Iso Indies contains the rare versatility to be able to go full on Brooklyn gritty, or float on a beat like on their most popular track “Tropicana”. The song has over a half million streams on Spotify and for good reason. The duo bless an otherworldly beat with a flow only comparable to 2010 Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa. We asked the duo a few questions about their come up and independent success, and they were gracious enough to come through.

Can you tell us a little bit about where you’re from, some of your earliest influences and how you formed the duo?

We’re from Brooklyn, NY. Home of the illest MC’s to live that paved the way for us to be who we are today.  Our earliest influences would definitely be: Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, Common, Smif n wesson, Tribe called quest, Mobb deep, Red & Meth, Camp lo,  Black Star.

Having over a million streams while remaining independent is great. How have y’all managed to gain such a loyal fanbase in the underground?

Staying consistent and dropping music over the years. We built up a vault of tracks over a year’s time span in 2018 and locked in and organized our music to a way we can drop it to cater to our fan base we built up from the underground.

What are your views on the state of the rap game? What do you feel like is Iso Indies place in it?

We here to restore the feel and give the real, our place in the rap game is to remain true to ourselves and let our messages shine through our artistry.

What stands out to me is the consistency from you guys. Can you talk about your latest work and what you have planned for the rest of the year?

We’re big on consistency and manifestation, we could put out songs or projects every month if we can but it’s always about quality over quantity for us.

What advice do you have for the next rap duo trying to find their way in the game?

Be true to who you are but most importantly make sure your heart and mind is in the right place. A duo is the combing of two worlds to form into one and you have to always remember it takes two to make things go right. Without trust you have nothing and we put God first with everything we do.
