With a bad chick on every corner of his California King, Ty Dolla $ign has a seemingly endless supply of ammunition to make hedonistic tunes that the clubs love. With global powerhouse Afrojack passing the Thai stick over to Mr Dolla for ÔÇ£Gone,ÔÇØ the dog days of summer just got a kick in the ass in a major way.
While we arenÔÇÖt getting anything all that new from Ty, the stripped and slowed down production from Afrojack is a nice step in a new direction. With a few Coronas and some chopped limes, the record could easily transform a luau into a lit-fest and a cozy afternoon in a pool donut into a raging Project X party. Again, this isnÔÇÖt new ground for the West Coast hit-maker to cover but between the cascading synths in the pre-hook to the melody-infused vibes Ty hits us with as the beat slims down, the troubles of the world seem to melt away even after one listen.
“I’ve been keeping up with Ty for a while and have wanted to work with him since his last record dropped,” says Afrojack. “I love pushing boundaries and Ty brings a unique style to the game. It was time for something new- collaborating with him did just that.”
As long as Ty promises heÔÇÖll ÔÇ£never be sober,ÔÇØ it seems like weÔÇÖll always have a connect for the soundtrack to the nights we canÔÇÖt remember and will never forget.
