DJ Khaled Earns His First No. 1 Album With ÔÇÿMajor KeyÔÇÖ

Last week, DJ Khaled wrote a letter to his fans when word broke that he had a great chance of scoring the number one album in the country.┬áThis week should be even more cause for celebration as DJ Khaled has officially received his first number one record, according a report by Billboard. More impressive, Khaled’s feat came at Drake’s expense, as Drake’s 12-week reign at the top of the charts has come to an end.

Major Key┬ásold the equivalent of 95,000 albums, with 59,000 in traditional sales. Major Key beat┬áKhaled’s next highest selling album,┬á2012’s We the Best,┬áby almost 20,000 more units as the previous project topped out at 78,000 the first week. The album was buoyed by Drake’s “For Free” and Jay-Z’s “I Got the Keys” featuring Future.

The album is a star-studded event and has some of the highest profile features on Khaled’s album to date. In addition to Drake and Jay-Z, Khaled has Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Rick Ross, Nas, Jeezy, and plenty others as guests on the album.

This news comes at a great time for Khaled, who’s been having a bit of turmoil in his personal/business relationships. A notable name missing this go-round is Khaled’s artist Ace Hood. Ace, who is signed to Khaled’s label, recently spoke his frustrations with the Miami DJ. That hiccup aside, the good times continue to roll for Khaled making his 2016 one for the scrapbook.
