Number On The Board: Gucci Mane Sets A Personal Best As Drake Scores A Hot 100 Record

Despite leading Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, Gucci Mane’s first post-prison album, Everybody Looking, was unable to knock Drake’s Views from atop the Billboard 200 for the tracking week ending July 28. Still, Gucci Mane’s first studio album in five years set a personal best for the rapper with its second place finish, marking the Atlanta trap originator’s triumphant return since being released from jail in May.

With its 12th nonconsecutive week at no. 1, Views became the ninth album in the past 25 years to spend 12 or more weeks at the top position on the Billboard 200. Adele’s 21 holds the highest total during that time period with 24 weeks in 2011-12, though, so Toronto’s favorite son┬ásits┬áa long way from the top.

Although Views continues to roll along, Drake’s “One Dance” continued to tumble in the Hot 100, falling another spot to no. 3 after being bumped to no. 2 last week. However, the finish allowed the rapper to surpass The Weeknd for most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 by a solo male artist.
