“Power” actress Naturi Naughton recently talked about her feelings toward rap veteran Lil’ Kim and revealed she had no idea why a beef between them exists.
In a new interview, Naturi suggested her past portrayal as Kim in 2009’s Notorious biopic ultimately sparked the friction.
“The shade is real. I donÔÇÖt understand it. I wish, you know what Marc, maybe you can find out why. All I know is I had the pleasure and honor of playing Lil’ Kim in the film Notorious. I would love to have her, some kind of affinity – the thing is I was a first-time actress in a film. This was the beginning of my career. IÔÇÖm a little black girl from Jersey, why not uplift and support that? I’ve always loved and appreciated her work and I wish her nothing but the best.” (VH1 Live)
Earlier this month, Naturi revealed Lil’ Kim did not want her around during the recent VH1 Hip Hop Honors ceremony.
Naturi had revealed off air that Lil Kim tried to keep her away from herself during VH1ÔÇÖs ÔÇ£Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The QueensÔÇØ show last night. Why? Well, Kim — who was being honored — is still salty about Naturi portraying her in the Biggie biopic Notorious. (The YBF)
Naughton has kept busy over the past few weeks promoting the return of her “Power” series.
