Inspiration can come from anywhere. For artists, the best ideas usually come from simply living life and turning those ideas into pieces of art. Raury, inspired by a recent skydiving trip, took the feelings of his experience and turned it into “NEVERALONE.” The song finds Raury rapping and singing about a dream he had after he performed at a festival in Michigan back in June.
The ATL rapper explained some key parts of the song he wants listeners to be aware of.┬áÔÇ£An essential part I tell a lot of people to look out for in this song is when I say, ÔÇÿWhere is my shadow?ÔÇÖÔÇØ he explains, referring to a vision in which he was locked in a gated community with a key that he assumed led to his escape. After it didnÔÇÖt work, two women appeared to tell him that freedom was acquired through knowledge, not keys, and to instead ÔÇ£live through what you know.ÔÇØ
The song has a soulful feel, with a deep bass and background hums that accent Raury’s emotional vocals. “NEVERALONE” is described as an “empowering anthem that resulted from this experience of personal growth, tries to make sense of the human experience while operating within it.”
