20 Dope Artists to add to your playlist this summer

Good music, in one place for you

From the acclaim of Tyler and Cole’s albums to the promise of releases from giants like Drake and Kendrick, Hip Hop fans have been fed this year, and fed good. Of course here at Today’s Hip Hop, we enjoy a good mainstream release, but we’re equally concerned about what’s happening on the underground/up and coming scene as well. If you’ve been keeping up with us for a minute, you’d see that we’ve reviewed projects for artists like Caleborate, Aaron May, Awon & Phoniks and more. Today, we’ve compiled a list of these types of artists, ones who have forged a dope lane for themselves and a fanbase for their movement, but you still may not know about them if you don’t have your ear to the street.

For gritty, lyrical wordplay check out Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon, who spits over classic production in a manner that could go bar for bar with the likes of a Griselda or Mach Hommy. Prefer chill vibes? We’d recommend the summertime hipsterish sound of bLAck pARty or the Southern chill of Houston rapper reggie. Either way, if you like good music, we’re confident there’s something here for you.
