Eli Sostre is a rapper-singer from the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, New York who’s on the rise. He has a project set to drop in early August and will be supporting OVO collaborator Amir Obe on select dates of his tour.
The 24-year-old’s latest track, “Ain’t Love Strange,” was co-produced with longtime collaborator Soriano — they connected when Sostre was 14 and would┬ásend songs and beats to each other through AOL Instant Messenger — and Danny Winn. The song is about the up and downs of balancing music and relationships. The woozy, atmospheric production brings to mind the likes of Jeremih and The Weeknd as the lyrics reminisce about an ex and consider the possibility of reconciliation.
“It done been like five whole months I can’t feel your vibe no more I don’t even get high no more But sometimes I think about you I pour up, I drink about you (Yeah) If you love me just tell me the truth (Yeah) I swear that I wouldn’t judge you”
“ALS came from a day when me and someone I love were going through some stuff,” Sostre said via email. “[There was] a lot of miscommunication and trying to balance this music with every other aspect of my life. [It’s] basically [about] the everyday challenges of any relationship with loved ones, it’s about finding balance.”
Recently, Sostre also released the seductive “Birds Chirping,” another track co-produced with Soriano. Stream it below and look out for his upcoming project soon.
