Kota the Friend, FLTBYS Announce Second Night of NYC Flight Night

Flight Night

fltbys Music and Entertainment (Flight Boys) have announced a second night of their Global Flight Night Hip-Hop Festival Series, NYC Flight Night on Saturday July 23rd, 2022 at Sony Hall with Kota the Friend headlining.  Tickets go on sale today. Due to popular demand, and an early sell-out of the July 22nd show, fltbys will open ticket sales for a second night.

Brooklyn, NY is the birthplace of the FLTBYS brand. Kota the Friend established the concept as a Junior at Brooklyn High School of Performing Arts.

In its early days, Flight Night was a showcase for some of the best upcoming talent in New York; the original Flight Night showcase was held at Two Steps Down Restaurant in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and featured the late Capital Steez, Phony People, and Dyme a Duzin.  A young Joey Bada$$ was also a frequent attendee of Flight Night shows and formed Pro Era right outside a Flight Night Event.

Today, Flight Night has become a celebration of independence, embracing a mission to shine the spotlight on underrepresented indie artists at each festival stop, punctuated by a performance by Kota the Friend. NYC Flight Night will be the next chapter.

“Ever since 2008 we’ve been giving people the opportunity to get on stage, when no one else was giving the opportunity,” said Kota. “Fltbys has always been a young company of people who just want to do something but have no platform.

Flight Night’s most recent stop was a sold-out April 29th show at Metro Chicago. Indie performers Brittney Carter, KingTrey, Joel Q, Daylight Tone, Gatson, Kuhlahbee and Brandon Ross took full advantage of their 15-minute spotlights. As always, Kota the Friend ended the night with an exclamation point.

Los Angeles was treated to a similar display of brilliance. Artists Juicebox, Ajna, Nate Dae, Hannah Got Raps, Heaven Shamba and Price took center stage.

The festival’s inaugural show in Harrisburg, PA was a career-changing opportunity for native PA musicians. Brianna Castro, Neptune the Poet, 10DAYS, Derrick Juwan, drewtyrell and J Radiant spoke glowingly on the experience.  “Magical to be on that stage and rock out with everyone at Flight Night Festival” said Pittsburgh artist J Radiant.  “From all the artists to the crowd, you couldn’t have asked for a better vibe.”

The two New York City shows (Sony Hall, 7/22/22) are top-of-mind with tickets available now. Denver (Cervantes, 9/9/22) and Harrisburg (HMAC 11/11/22) shows are also coming soon.  FLTBYS has also hinted at the festival going global this year. Stops in Paris, London, Berlin, and Australia on the horizon.  The international community has recognized Flight Night with show requests from South Africa to Switzerland received for 2023.

Today, tickets for July 23rd, NYC Flight Night go on sale. Tickets can be purchased at flightnight.com.
