There was this guy in my city that had a contest and was trying to put together the most lyrical people in Denver. I remember him when I was younger and one of his albums he put out was amazing to me.
So I submitted a verse to it and then I talked to Iron Mic on the phone, who is also a battle rapper, and I said, ÔÇ£Hey, did you submit to that?ÔÇØ We ended up spitting our verses to each other over the phone. Then I was like, ÔÇ£If he doesnÔÇÖt put the song out soon, IÔÇÖm going to take your verse and my verse and put the song out.ÔÇØ
We waited two weeks and I called the dude and was like, ÔÇ£You still havenÔÇÖt put the track out. I feel like mine was the best.ÔÇØ He said, ÔÇ£You know what, IÔÇÖve got some things going on and probably wonÔÇÖt put it out.ÔÇØ
So I took that and I took Iron MicÔÇÖs and called Jomeezius The Genius and said, ÔÇ£Yo, I already have it written. Can you put a beat around it?ÔÇØ He said of course and I sent him the two verses and he sent me back the instrumental. Then I already had a track in the works with Chris Rivers.
I had not met him yet but we had talked about it. So I thought about who would fit the track well and knew Chris Rivers was amazing. I figured I would go with him.
I called him up, he loved it and thatÔÇÖs why I decided to put this out.
After that we made plans to fly to New York to shoot the video.
