Watch 50 Cent Rap His Favorite Nas Verse Flawlessly

ThisIs50 started a new video series called Verses, based around the concept of rappers spitting their favorite verse of all time from other MCs. Nothing fancy, just a flat out cool concept.

Fittingly, the first episode features 50 Cent. Being a Queens guy, Fif chose to spit a sixteen from his local idol, Nas. Since God’s Son has a handful of the illest verses of all time lining his rhyme book, Fifty’s choice couldn’t have been easy, but in the end – the first verse from “The Message” got the honor.

Fake thug, no love, you get the slug, CB4 Gusto Your luck low, I didn’t know til I was drunk though You freak niggas played out, get fucked and ate out Prostitute turned bitch, I got the gauge out 96 ways I made out, Montana way The Good-F-E-L-L-A, verbal AK spray Dipped attache, jumped out the Range, empty out the ashtray A glass of ‘ze make a man Cassius Clay…”

Ah, you know how it goes. Despite being one of the coldest verses from Nasir, the fact is that’s still an off the beaten path choice, considering illmatic exists. Not surprising for 50 though, when you factor how vivid the street slang is in this opening track from It Was Written and realize he managed to turn that same grimy, open book style into his own ticket to stardom. Hearing him rap the verse just sounds right, really.

Who would you like to see do Verses next? We’ve already seen DMX rapping his favorite Rakim verse, but it was so amazing, we’d definitely watch him go again.
