Fox’s “Empire” television series is not holding back when season three premieres next month by adding another high-profile music icon to its growing guest cameos list.

Barring any changes, Carey’s on-screen cameo will go down in early October.

Carey will play Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song. When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough. Her episode airs Wednesday, Oct. 5. (Variety)

Last month, “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson revealed rap icon Biz Markie would appear in season three.

Former G.O.O.D. Music artist Kid Cudi is expected to appear on the hit primetime show when it returns this fall.

Mescudi (Entourage, James White), will recur as another rapper named Gram, an independent musician who is a rival to Hakeem (Bryshere ÔÇ£YazzÔÇØ Gray) both in the studio and in life. That competition extends to romance: Gram is dating HakeemÔÇÖs ex, Tiana (Serayah McNeill). (EW)
