Frank OceanÔÇÖs A MamaÔÇÖs Boy, Odd Future Singer Pops Up In NYC [Video]

Odd Future‘s Frank Ocean has the Internet buzzing this week after showing up in a family member’s social media video.

Instagram footage surfaced Friday (August 12) of Ocean appearing in a restaurant with his mom.

A few days ago, social media giant Snapchat trolled Ocean and his delayed Boys Don’t Cry album release.

Frank Ocean is (hopefully) about to release his new album, and it looks like the developers at Snapchat are patiently waiting for it as well. In their latest update (available to some regions), Snapchat has added Frank Ocean filters: there’s one in the style of the OSX TextEdit window (referencing his old Tumblr notes) that reads ÔÇ£Dear Frank Ocean,ÔÇØ while another one features a skeleton that sums up how we all feel right now, with the caption, ÔÇ£Waiting for Frank Ocean’s music like…ÔÇØ (Pitchfork)

Last week, reports claimed Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry album would arrive August 5th.

Mr. Ocean, the innovative and enigmatic R&B singer, is set to release his next album, ÔÇ£Boys DonÔÇÖt Cry,ÔÇØ on Friday through an exclusive deal with Apple Music, according to a person with knowledge of the release plans. The release is also expected to include a major video and a printed publication called ÔÇ£Boys DonÔÇÖt CryÔÇØ that will be distributed at Apple stores. (New York Times)

Frank sparked headlines last week after appearing to put up a livestream broadcast on Apple Music.

In the early hours of Monday morning, Frank added an Apple Music video livestream to his website, getting a ton of people excited that, after all this, the album was finally happening. As it turns out, the “livestream” may not be a livestream at all; it looks to be a looped video of an empty room. (Complex)
