It’s been a big summer for Gucci Mane. After coming home from prison, he’s been dropping singles, videos and big-name guest spots that have left fans anticipating his new album, Everybody Looking dropping on Friday. But due to his newfound health and behavioral changes, people have been wondering if this changed Guwop isn’t the one they know and love. Gucci expounded on this in a profile for The New York Times. It seems that before his recent stretch behind bars, Gucci realized that he needed to put the drugs down.
I felt like I couldnÔÇÖt make music sober, I couldnÔÇÖt enjoy my money sober. Why would I wanna go to a club and couldnÔÇÖt smoke or drink? I felt like sex wouldnÔÇÖt be good sober. I associated everything with being high […] In hindsight I see it for what it was: I was a drug addict. I was na├»ve to the fact that I was numb. I canÔÇÖt say I felt happy my last six, seven years in the music business, I was just numb.
While putting down a vice is often difficult (this wasn’t his first attempt at a detox), it seems to be paying off for Guwop in his current run. Here’s hoping he can keep the win streak going.
