Jennifer Lopez┬áwill play the ÔÇ£Cocaine GodmotherÔÇØ Griselda Blanco in upcoming HBO film.
LBI Entertainment and┬áLopezÔÇÖs Nuyorican Productions are working on a movie┬áthat will follow┬áthe life and death of Blanco, who is known for her notorious role in drug trafficking in the 1970s and ÔÇÖ80s.┬áLopez will play Blanco and also┬áexecutive produce the film, alongside Laine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn and others.
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years,ÔÇØ said Lopez. ÔÇ£The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing GriseldaÔÇÖs story to life.ÔÇØ
The ÔÇ£Cocaine Godmother,ÔÇØ also known as the ÔÇ£Cocaine CowgirlÔÇØ and the┬áÔÇ£Black Widow,ÔÇØ was shot and killed in Medell├¡n, Colombia in 2012. She was 69.
