®fltbys Music and Entertainment (Flight Boys) and Kota the Friend unveiled their newest release today. The FLTBYS Skate 001 skateboard will drop in-store October 20th and online on October 25th. A limited number of the design exist, and they will only be available for purchase once. This historic release links the cultural connections between skate and hip-hop lifestyle. Designed by FLTBYS founder Kota the Friend himself, the one-of-a-kind boards serve as a creative reminder of the brand’s mission.
“We’ve come a long way since my days as a student at Brooklyn High School of Performing Arts”, shared Kota. “It all started with the music and Brooklyn skate culture – just having an outlet for us to create. FLTBYS is still all the things that it was meant to be when I started it in the 11th grade. It’s still a brand for creators and artists. That’s never going to change.”
Skate culture has always been a significant aspect of FLTBYS’ identity, and the Skate 001 boards will be right at home in the Midtown, Harrisburg brick and mortar store. Described by The Burg as “reminiscent of Supreme in NYC, with clean open space, concrete floors and a super cool vibe” local patrons have rapidly connected with the chic and creative space. From streetwear to vinyl albums, to local art, the store has captured the minds and imaginations of a community who appreciate the style and ideology of Kota the Friend’s brand.
The FLTBYS Skate 001 announcement comes as Kota the Friend caps off the historic European leg of his Flight Night Music Festival. Following massive turnouts in London, Amsterdam and Berlin, FLTBYS will conclude the tour Sunday, October 16th at La Machine Du Moulin Rouge in Paris. The show will hold extra significance, as it also happens to fall on Kota the Friend’s birthday. Limited tickets remain, and can be purchased at Flightnight.com.
