Terrible news if youÔÇÖre a fan of Meek Mill’s “Heard your gun go doo-doo-dooo-dooo/Well my gun go blat-blat-blat-blat-blat” type lyrics, but wonderful news if you’re tired of rappers speaking out against violence while also glorifying it on records. Meek just revealed his plans to stop rapping about glorifying guntalk once Dreamchaser 4 finally releases.

“After DC4 I won’t continue to rap about extreme violence!!!” a more socially aware Meek surprisingly announced on an Instagram post Friday morning. Meek said while he will no longer be rapping about shooting “100 shots straight into your snap cap,” he will, however, continue to teach residents in lower-class neighborhoods how to stay alive in a city “where the skinny n****s ride with a semi .45.” Adding, “I will remain to let my people know in these terrible environments to adapt and survive at any cost because US BLACK PEOPLE ARE STILL AT WAR WITH OURSELVES AND THE SYSTEM IN REAL LIFE!”

Read his full statement below.

Once I found out I wasn’t born to fail and just fall victim to a fake ass life that don’t offer shit but a jail, death i carry myself with extreme confidence and I know my value… even tho that’s where we came from and all most of us has ever experienced in life! Wake up! Don’t question my raps because it’s a life we lived and suffered from, I have a right to express my myself!

BY THE WAY ….AFTER DC4 I won’t continue to rap about extreme violence!!! But I will remain to let my people know in these terrible environments to adapt and survive at any cost because “US BLACK PEOPLE ARE STILL AT WAR WITH OURSELVES AND THE SYSTEM IN REAL LIFE!

#grammarcheck I don’t talk the “AMERICAN ENGLISH” because I don’t believe in it…I never cared about writing or speaking that way! I dont dress that way …. I’m doing me better yet doing #us

It’ll be interesting to see if Meek Mill’s decision will influence other rappers to follow suit, just as it’ll be interesting to see how the public will receive his new “soft violence” raps, whatever that is.
