With the 4th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Ohio State’s star running back, Ezekiel Elliott, as the man to fix the backfield hole Demarco Murray created with his departure. Elliott has already become a beloved athlete, thanks in part to his red carpet antics and, quite frankly, the fact that he’s now one of the biggest names on “America’s team.”
However, before the preseason has even begun, Elliott’s NFL career may be in danger of being derailed. Today, his girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson, uploaded photos of bruises and injuries to Instagram, accusing Elliott of inflicting them on her. Deadspin has also acquired filed police reports from Thompson, and a 911 call from her to the police from this morning, after the alleged beating incident.
On said 911 call, Thompson alleged that Elliott had been “doing it for five days straight,” alluding to the fact that he’s been assaulting her for just short of a week. As you can see in the report excerpt above, Elliott has denied that he’s physically assaulted Thompson, and his father recently released a statement regarding the troubling allegations.
The reported allegations and Internet postings regarding our son are completely false. Ezekiel has done nothing wrong.┬áThe police have investigated this matter and eyewitnesses have verified the lack of any wrongdoing. The actual evidence in this matter clearly indicates what the real motivation was behind the police being called. We are confident that when the truth comes to light it will reveal the falsity of these claims. Ezekiel has been fully cooperative with the police and will continue to do soÔÇöalong with cooperating with the NFLÔÇömoving forward.
The NFL has yet to publicly comment on the incident, and will likely conduct a full internal investigation before doing so. Ezekiel’s father’s statement was posted to the Dallas Cowboys Twitter account just over an hour ago.
We’ll have more details once they’re made available.
