Alicia Keys has some more new music — this one for the upcoming Disney movie, Queen of Katwe.
The song is an amazing record that features Alicia being Alicia… Then it switches up about 2/3 of the way through unexpectedly. I like that unique structure and Alicia can really pull that off.
As for the movie, it centers around 10-year-old Phiona Mutesi who lives in the impoverished area of Katwe in Kampala, Uganda with her family. Phiona’s dream is to become an international chess champion.
I love chess. Just got back into it with my cousin and trying to show him the ropes (until he beats me, which will be soon. Ha!) Alas, the movie comes out September 30th and “Back To Life” may very well be in my rotation until then.
